I graduated from UofT and majored in Cinema Studies, Digital Humanities, Book and Media Studies and Music History and Culture. I think the seed that may have sprouted my interest in film and cinema was planted back in the early 80s when I happened to pick up a copy of a cinema magazines which had some articles on Ridley Scott and the making of Blade Runner at the time. A few years later on, while in between watching big blockbusters of the time such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and E.T., I saw a cool poster of a desert landscape and bought a ticket to see Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas, and I think that exposed me to my first real art film as a kid. I don’t think I undertood what it was about until much later in life, but I became fascinated and obsessed with art cinema and the music of Ry Cooder ever since.

My two favorite films are Fredrico Fellin’s 812 and Wim Wenders’ King of the Road. I watch 812 at least once every year and I think it’s one of those film’s that reveals something new about itself every time you watch it.

“I once got caught in the rain and lost my coat”

…or in search of a Golden Goose:

If you know how to catch a mouse
The world will beat a pathway to your door
But since the first ones found our house
I can appreciate the saying more
I don’t know what they expect to find
I don’t know, I can’t make up my mind

They say he’s got a special gift
But I don’t envy him at all
They started camping in the yard
They’ve got their ears pressed up against the wall
I don’t know how long can this go on
I don’t know, how did it last this long?

Yeah, everybody wants an egg from the golden goose
But no one cares if they’re the one who kills the golden goose
Everybody wants an egg from the golden goose
I wonder just how many eggs are in the golden goose?

A paparazzi’s at the door
He says he’s here from People magazine
And there’s some lady on the phone
Wants him to advertise designer jeans
I don’t know, how long can this go on?
I don’t know how did it last so long?
